What to wear for a beach wedding?
Abby asked:
What would be something for the groom to wear on a beach wedding thats not dressed down? I don’t want him to be in a tux because we’ll be barefoot and that would look weird and a being in a tux would look weird on the beach, i think. But I also don’t want him in a hawaiian shirt and shorts…any ideas? Thanks

How about a white tux with a motorcycle collar with no tie & no vest? I think that would look really good.
Or you could do the black slacks without a coat, vest or tie.

White linen pants and a blue button down.

I think some nice dress pants that are tan with a nice white button up shirt with the top 2 or 3 buttons undone would be good congrats and good luck

I think a nice linen white shirt or any white shirt (short sleeved) and khaki pants would be very nice and not at all tacky. There are plenty of wedding websites out there that can give you ideas.

Black dress pants and hispanics wear this thing called a GUAYABERA! It’s very elegant and he could choose any color do a search on GUAYABERAS to see if you like them. They also have dresses and stuff for women.

What about dress pants (khaki or a dark color), rolled up a little with a nice white dress shirt or linen shirt? That way he still looks nice, but relaxed at the beach.
If you are having wedding colors and all that jazz, he can wear a colored dress shirt instead of white to match.

I would go with light colored pants (tan or light blue), either linen or seersucker, light shirt (blue or pink or tan, depending on your color scheme) and a nice tie. Jacket or not would be up to you–but it would dress it up more if he were in a jacket and tie. Have him roll up the pants legs a couple of times, since he’ll be barefoot.
He could also do khaki slacks and a blue blazer–again rolling up the pants legs.

JCrew has a wedding line just for this purpose. Usually lighter suits with lightweight shirts (like linen or cotton). No tie.
(They’re not showing it on their site since it’s out of season, but I bet you could call, go to a store, or check eBay.)

hi there,
white pants and a white long sleeve shirt ( both soft material), its much more easier to walk and very refreshing to the skin.

First off congrats! Me and my fiance are also getting married on the beach, I have thought of this myself..
I think an untucked white short sleeved silk shirt with either khaki slacks or nice white slacks would look very nice.

Personally, I think being on a beach, getting married, and the groom being in a tux and barefoot is extremely ****!! I have seen tuxes that have shorts, rather than long pants for beach weddings. Beach weddings are beautiful, and **** and whatever you choose will be great. He could just wear a dress shirt and dress pants with a tie, and look great. Or a dress shirt, vest and drress pants with the coursage-yummy!! Best of luck

just make sure he isn’t any more dressed up, or down than you are. maybe a nice pair of khakis. i would just make sure it doesn’t look like you should be attending 2 separate weddings.

Hi
My daughter is getting married this Christmas in Jamaica.
She spent hours on the computer looking at tropical wedding pictures before she decided. The results were 1/2 tux or suit the other 1/2 casual, khaki’s & white shirt.
I think it really depends on what you’re wearing. If you have a beautiful dress with a train & veil, I personally think casual is tacky. A suit would be more appropriate.
However if you are in a casual dress, than khaki’s & a shirt would be fine.
Start earching on the computer for destination wedding pictures. Lots & lots of people had more formal attire, and I think the pics were beautiful
Good luck

My fiance is wearing a pair of ivory linen pants, barefoot, and a brick colored button down short sleeved shirt. I will be wearing a lovely chiffon wedding gown.

We had a destination wedding in the Bahamas, it wasn’t on the beach, but same vibe. It was on a pier. He wore black dress pants, and a white long sleeved dress shirt. The shirt had like satin stripes, not satin, but I’m trying to say it wasn’t just a plain old white button down. He looked “dressed up” and he looked appropriate for the occasion and location. I wore a halter wedding gown, no real train. We both sweated our a$$es off though… He wore slip on dress shoes, like with no shoe laces….

We are a wedding officiant service that performs many beach weddings. We have seen grooms in suits, khaki pants and a dress shirt, but my favorite, especially if you are going barefoot, would be linen pants, a undershirt, with a dress shirt over it. It is classy, yet simple and casual at the same time. Best wishes!
