Ultimate week in Hawaii at a reasonable cost. possible?

thaiawoka asked:

I saved some money and now I want to spend it. I’m flying from London to Honolulu with no pre-booked accommodation and am keen to see as much of Hawaii as I can in a week. Happy to stay in hostels and don’t want to spend outrageous amounts on rooms. Definitely want to visit Oahu but don’t want to feel like I missed out at the end of my week. Would prefer beach/nature based areas but would also appreciate a decent level of nightlife (not particularly interested in clubs, just good bars and restaurants).

Any suggestions, tips or even tours available to give me the complete package? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

P.S. Random but not essential, will need to charge my camera, phone and camcorder while out there. Any thoughts on this would be handy too :)

    Aloha,

so good to hear that you will be coming to Honolulu,
We do have the YMCA in downtown honolulu near the Queens Medical Center.

As for charging….do bring a converter for our outlets do defer from Europes.

When do you plan to come out?
You can see and explore the whole island just by going on the bus! They sell bus books at Borders, and other busbooks.
the bus is $2 one way and it goes around the whole island.

Mate hit the hawaiipubcrawl.com while you are in Waikiki, Oahu you will like that and make some friends. Stay at one of the hostels on Lemon Rd in Waikki its like 3 of them over there. Its always tourist and girls over that way.

Far as your electronics you’ll need an adaptor our voltage in the states is only 110. Well have FUN

If you want to see the “real” Hawaii, then you should spend most of your trip on the “outer islands” like Big Island, Maui and Kauai. Absolutely gorgeous scenery! There is even snow on the Big Island–green, white and black sand beaches. Lahaina on Maui is fun, don’t miss out on the drive to Hana! Kauai is drop-dead gorgeous! If you’ve ever seen Jurassic Park, that’s were it was filmed. Don’t forget to see the Na Pali coast. These islands (ex pt. Maui) are also cheaper than Oahu. Not as many nightclubs, but they do have their arrays of bars and good restaurants. If you do spend some time on Oahu, then check out the North Shore, I would skip Honolulu–it’s a total tourist trap!!! Don’t forget your converters!!
