Questions about Hawaii night life?
BigPrimo82 asked:
Im going to Waikiki Beach for the labor day weekend with my roomate leaving friday afternoon from Phoenix , coming back monday night. Since Im only there for the weekend, i just really want to party/drink/ and meet some cute girls while I’m there. This was a spur of the moment plan. Anyway, just wanted to know a few things .

-what is last call time in wiakiki? In phoenix it’s 2 a.m.
-cost of beers / drinks? a bud light bottle here is about $3.50.
-name of the best bars/ clubs?
-what is appropriate attire for that scene?
-is lying around on the beach drinking mai tai’s my best bet during the day ?
and being wiakiki beach, are there many locals ? and if so, are they nice?
If anyone knows, especially any locals, the answers to my questions I would be surely grateful! Thanks!

Last call times vary in Waikiki…..I think one of the latest ones is at 4 am (but I can’t for the life of me remember where I heard that). If you’re looking to pub crawl, a great place to start is Rumors at the Ala Moana Hotel. After that, just follow the crowd until you find someplace you like. There are a number of places in the Waikiki area, it just depends on what kind of music you like and what you’re looking for. Check with your conceirge for their recommendations…..they know the scene much better!
Bud light will usually run you about $5 here with mixed drinks running a bit higher.
Attire depends on which club you’re at. A safe bet would be to wear a collared shirt and a pair of nice pants. Some clubs will allow you to wear shorts/jeans but some won’t.
As far as mai tais on the beach, alcohol on the beach is actually illegall in Hawaii. However, you should be able to drink mai tais to your hearts’ content at your pool. I wouldn’t suggest you sit in the sun though and drink…..you’ll get drunk and end up with a mean sunburn…..not a great look if you’re looking to impress the girls!
There aren’t going to be very many locals at Waikiki. We locals tend to avoid Waikiki if at all possible, especially on a holiday weekend! The only exception to this rule would be the local surfers that like to catch the offshore break at Waikiki.
What locals you do find at Waikiki will likely be very friendly (as most local people are)!
Hope that helps you…….good luck and happy travels!

Last call is usually about 2 AM, some locations close at 4 AM.
Beers better figure around $4.00-$4.50, Drinks $5.00-$7.50 depending on what you’re looking for and where you go.
Not sure what kind of bars/clubs you’re looking for so can’t quite answer…dance club, strip club, lounge? Either way, check with the hotel desk, they’ll know the safe ones…
Attire, jeans and t-shirt for casual, slacks & polo shirts for other…not much need for anything else…remember your swim trunks! No Speedos!!!
Can’t drink on the public beaches, hotel pool areas are good.
Be careful, like anywhere else in the world. You are a visitor and although this is the Aloha State, if you’re cocky, arogant, loud, or draw too much attention to yourself, you will get into trouble. Enjoy the sites and the people but stay humble and respect the culture and traditions…you’ll be okay. If someone confronts you, apologize and move on, it’s not worth the hastle and grief while on vacation.

I just returned home from my fifth trip to Hawaii. It is so awesome you’ll love it. One of the most popular bars on Waikiki beach is a place called Dukes. It is on the ground floor of the Outrigger Canoe Club hotel. Dukes is a casual sports bar type restaurant. Beers in Waikiki are usually about $5 and mai tai’s are about $10. For some cheaper drinks and more local flavor visit the Treetop lounge in the International Market place (it is up stairs above all the vendors). Be careful about drinking on the beach. It is allowed at hotel beach bars and county parks, but not allowed at state parks. The atmosphere all over Waikiki is very laid back and a pretty much anything goes sort of attitude. There are plenty of locals, but most of them are friendly and happy to give advice to tourists. You will see 40 year old men skate boarding down the city side walk as well as professionals who get up at 5:00 am to surf before work.
Last call in Hawaii is 2:00 am.

Hey guys, here are a few clubs you might want to take a look at. Last call is somewhere around 2, but watch out for the hookers when you leave the clubs they can be pretty agressive. Mixed drinks at some of the clubs can be as much as 10-12 dollars so I suggest getting your buzz on in your room. The ABC stores and you will know them well when you get here have normal priced alcohol so get some and get tanked then head out! Scruples is a decent place to go dancing and drinking but expensive on the drinking side of things. It’s small but you’ll get your close up and personal time with the ladies. Anyhow you should have a blast it is truely a great place to go! I have lots of other info in my posts from way back that have tons of info if you feel like searching for them. I use to live up on Happy Valley Rd, in Glendale a few years ago. Loved Phoenix and there were some pretty cool bars down in Tempe. Ok have a great trip!
Aloha!
Pink Cadillac is where most Japanese gals hang out and is located in Waikiki on Ena Road!
Zanzabar in Waikiki it’s in the Waikiki Trade Center on Kuhio Avenue.
Pipeline Cafe in Honolulu located behind Dixie Grill.
The Ocean’s Club located in the Restaurant Row Shopping Center.
The Mai Tai Bar located in Ala Moana Shopping Center located across from Bubba Gump 2nd floor from Shirokiya. The food & drink menu is awesome!
Rumours nightclub is located in the Ala Moana Hotel.
The Galaxy Club located at 1739 Kalakaua Avenue across the street from the back half of Hard Rock Cafe in Honolulu.
Have fun! ………………

-last call varies, but I wouldn’t try entering a club at 3am or later
-average about $5 for drinks
-Ocean Club (made top 100 US clubs list), Pipeline Cafe
-for you, pants and collared shirt is good attire
-drinking in public is illegal in Hawaii
-on Waikiki beach you see a lot of locals, esp surfers and swimmers, and those working at the hotels and shops
