Maui, Hawaii?

atlantagal asked:

Hi all! I will be going to Maui Hawaii in 2 weeks and I am ESTATIC! I have NEVER been to Hawaii. I’m going with my family, and i’m usually all go during a vacation, but i’ve promised myself to take it easy on this one. I know i’m going to do lei making, snorkeling, and my family is going to spend a day on the big island so we can go see Pearl Harbor. I was wondering what you would do for 8 days in Maui, if you wanted to take it easy…besides the obvious, laying on the beach all day with a book. =) Thanks!!
I know we are visiting Pearl Harbor because my dad and sister really want to see it. =) 19 more days left, woohoo!

Maui is great for what you want – relaxation!!!!

We spent about 7 days there a few months back, it was incredible. Yes, the beaches are great and you can spend a lot of your time just hanging out on the beaches. I’d head to Big Beach near Kihei – its gorgeous. The beaches near Lahaina arn’t as nice – Ka’anapoli (sp?) is one of the nicer ones.

In Lahaina there’s Front Street which is your typical tourist street – a ton of shops, with the ocean across the street. It’s great for walking, buying gifts and eating!

I’d also suggest you do the “Road to Hana” – the views are incredible! If your family is adventerous, you can hike up and down to a whole bunch of different waterfalls – its incredible!!! If you do this road trip, purchase Maui Revealed – if you set the odometer on your car, it’ll tell you exactly where you can pull over and start hiking. Also, FYI, there is this incredible waterfall – you have a perfect view of it from the road, its near a bridge… If you cross the bridge you can easily climb down and start hiking pretty damn close to the waterfall – i feel like i’m repeating myself, but it really is incredible!

The book also points out the better beaches of Maui.

    Enjoy it!!!

Take a walk on Kaanapali Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. There is a sidewalk that runs about a mile along the beach from the Hyatt Regency Maui, the southernmost hotel in Kaanapali, all the way to the Sheraton Maui & Black Rock, the 2nd to the last hotel on Kaanapali Beach. You will pass the Marriott, Westin, Whaler’s Village, & Kaanapali Beach Hotel on the way. You can walk through the Westin Maui (7 pools, very nice landscape) the Hyatt has incredible artwork, Whaler’s village is a must for shopping & lots of great restaurants.

Well i Live in hawaii and Pearl Harbor is on Oahu. Snorkeling and Lei making is famous in hawaii. If you go to Haleiwa on Oahu, go to matsumoto’s. His shop has the best Shave Ice in the world. And shave ice is way different from a snow cone.

You will have so much fun!! Here are my top 7 free or nearly free things that you must do or see on Maui:

If your budget allows, get a spa treatment at the Spa Grande at the Grand Wailea. It is by far the BEST spa I’ve ever been too. Here are some Hawaii spa tips:

Did you mean that you are going to Oahu? Pearl Harbor is on Oahu not the Big Island. Pearl Harbor is definitely a very touching and solemn place to see. One thing you need to be aware of is that you can’t take purses or bags or cases of any kind in to see Pearl Harbor. You can only carry in a camera and a bottle of water.

Have fun and take lot’s of pictures!

This is our family’s personal Hawaii Stuff web site. Created so they could find everything they needed in one place BEFORE they got here. This is non-commercial and best of all ad free. There are numerous pages listed that will gladly provide you both national and local opinions on what to do and see. Also has suggested itineraries.
    Enjoy!
