Have you been to Hawaii?

Derby asked:

I’m looking for a decent hotel around Waikiki Beach on Oahu. I don’t want to spend more than $150/nt. I found a few on the beach, but I have no idea of the quality. The only quality references I have are the star ratings on the travel sites. I figured I’d ask the Yahoo community. So, any suggestions?

“Decent” does not equal “$150″ on Waikiki Beach.

Go to a travel agent and act like you want to go through them. They have booklets that they give you and their star ratings are true. Then, tell them that you want to think about it more. The booklets are free and they never call yu back. Just say you want information on the hotels.

I think you need to find better traveling sites. There should be some that list by price that you have yet to find.

hotels.com lists by both rank and price.

wyndham resort. it’s a time share. my gf and i got a 2 bedroom (1 king size master bedroom and 2-bed bedroom) suite with a sofa/bed pull out in the living room and kitchen for 8 days. i believe it cost $1300 for the whole thing. we had four other friends with us. so we split the bill. that’s $27/day!!!

the place is about a block away from the beach and from all the high-end stores.

I lived on oahu for almost 3 years
if you are in the military, the HaleKoa Is great
also there are tons right off the beach that still have a partial view of the ocean. There are tons that are cheap and look bad but are really fine. I stayed at one that was ok. It was about $80 for a night and had a pool and a partial view. It was called the ohana west or east. but remember that its going to be hard to find a hotel with openings because its summer time. I hope that helps.

You would no doubt get a better price through these things like expedia.com, but I have never been there and yes I’m crying Its so expensive. i don’t know.

I’ve been to Oahu a few times. All I can tell you is that I love that place so much, that it doesn’t matter what the hotel is like, as long as I get a clean bed and a clean bathroom. What I usually do is go to travelocity, orbitz and expedia and compare prices, then I look at the photos and read the reviews. I’ve found places for about $80 a night. The way I see it, I need the hotel room to sleep, because the rest of the time I spend it at the beach.

waikkiki beach is one of the worlds most crowded beaches. go to the north shore of oahu instead. its less crowded. Or try maui or kauai, those places are much cheaper
