What part do you live in?
What are the people like?
What are the beaches like?

Unfortunately, I live in Hawaii (military brat).
It is really boring here, the music scene ***** out here. Some people here are okay, but most are ****** towards white and black people.
I don’t know how old you are, but Hawaii education system is really bad. For example: I came here when I was in the 7th grade, the kids at my grade were learning stuff that i’ve learned in the 5th grade.
The beaches are nice, waikiki beach is always crowded; so I usually go to North Shore. If you go to North Shore, be sure to try their shaved ice, sadly that’s the only thing I like about Hawaii.
I don’t think it’s a good place to live, I **** it here, i’m moving back to the mainland next year. I can’t wait to get back to civilization.

Yes I live in Hawaii. I live in the central part of Oahu in a nice community called Mililani. Some of the people here are rude or very unfriendly but I have less problems with the people here than I did when I lived in Maryland(home of America’s worst drivers!), which is where I lived just before here. The beaches are awesome although Waikiki is pretty crowded. The weather is the best I’ve experience anywhere and I’ve lived all over the world. You’ll love living here as long as you can get a decent paying job(it’s very expensive to live here) and find a good place to live. Personally I plan on living here for as long as I can!

I agree with Taylor.,… i lived in Mililani the last 4 years…drug problems all over the island with ICE. drunkeness abounds. if Hawaii didnt have the military they would suffer greatly. ask any of the “haoles” or non locals about how they get treated by the people who were born and raised there…. jobs are crappy, few if any military want to stay because of the ****** attitudes of the local people. Mokes and titas are what is commonly called locals who are sort of on the rough side of life. Homelessness on the leeward side of the island. small island thinking. they local boys want to fight with you allthe time, if they even tried any of that in Los Angeles, theyd be locked up so fast. the beaches and the water is the ONLY thing nice about hawaii…..theres a lot more HA! than aloha in Hawaii. save your money, stay where youre at, you aint missing a thing!

i did. i lived in kaimuki, honolulu. the beaches are beautiful and so many.
different islands have their own magic. honolulu in oahu is most populated, and many hawaiians, asians, polynesians, caucasian, and mix.
other islands are much less populated. everyone’s laid back and life is slow pace. i love living there, but so expensive like california and new york and d.c.

I’ve lived on Oahu (Honolulu) and Molokai (no traffic lights). Now I live on Maui. Altogether, it’s been about eight and a half years so far.
There are many kinds of people in Hawaii. I really couldn’t write enough here to cover them all. One of the things I have really liked about it is how much I still have to learn about the cultures, how often I am still surprised by something new.
Beaches are almost as diverse. You don’t have seagulls, and you don’t have a lot of seashells. But some beaches are crowded, and some are not, some are calm and good for swimming, some are dangerous, but beautiful. Some have coral reefs very close in and lots of fish you can look at while you’re snorkeling. Hawaii’s beaches have white sand (broken coral), black sand (lava rock), red sand (eroded from volcanic cinders), and even green sand from olivine, the same mineral that makes peridot–the August birthstone.
The same beach may be like glass in the summer, then have monster waves in the winter. Or have pretty good waves in the summer, but be calm enough for snorkeling in the winter. This time of year, you sometimes see humpback whales jump out of the water while you’re standing on the beach.
I do like living here, but it is a struggle, financially. What my sister pays monthly on a mortgage for a three bedroom house on a triple lot in a southern state is about two-thirds what I pay in rent for a studio apartment that is attached to my landlord’s house.
Gas prices in the past six months have come down from about about $4.50 to $2.67 now. It’s usually cheaper on Oahu, more expensive on the smaller islands. Food is more expensive, too, and the economy’s really not great now. I’m a tenured teacher, and this year people have been asking me on a regular basis, “Is your job safe?” If you’re a tourist, you could beat the crowds by coming this year. If you’re trying to make a living–not so good.
The beaches are not enough. You should really only live here if you love the people, and you love the food, and you don’t want to change the place to make it more like back home.

I live on Oahu.
The people are amazing! Some of them are mean but whatever.
The beaches are great: right now the North Shore has HUGE waves for the experienced surfer.
I like living here.

Yes.
I live on Kauai.
The people are mostly cool but there are some mokes and titas who give you stink eye if you’re haole (like me).
The beaches are great!

I live in Hawaii on Oahu in Kapolei on the Leeward side of the island. I moved here temporarily to save money. It was the stupidest thing that I have ever done. The cost of living here is as high as it was in Southern California (where I lived before moving here) and the wages are incredibly low. (I make 1/3 the amount of money doing nearly the same job.)
The people here are like people everywhere. You can meet some really great people and some really awful ones.
There is a low crime rate in Hawaii, but I work in a bar in Honolulu and there are more crackheads there than most places that I’ve been. People say that Hawaiians are prejudiced against haoles but I haven’t had any problems. And if you have kids, sending them to public school is probably not a great idea as they rank 49/50 in the states.
That said the beaches are amazing and so is the weather. But no I don’t like living here and cannot wait to leave.

i live on oahu,in honolulu.the people are friendly easy going.some beaches are good,i personally like really soft sand and i don,t find that too often.the beaches are also in need of sand.they are pretty small compared to say california.the water is clean most of the time and a nice blue.i like it here,i,ve been here 9 years, what i don,t like is not being able to drive to visit my kids and friends, you,re just here and to go somewhere you need to fly, which is more expensive now.

I grew up in Hawaii and go back and forth…The people are a huge mix- many immigrants etc. The beaches are fabulous but if you really enjoy actual civilization…Hawaii sux. It is an experience though if you are up for it. I love the land, but the lifestyle & social aspects are hideous. Most people are on dope or some wacko hippie spiritual quest and 1/4 of the population cannot read. Hawaii has a high ******* rate and its not by accident….Besides, it costs twcie as much to liver here than most places and ya get 1/2 the quality…man, now I am the one getting depressed. LOL Hawaii is a vortex- stay away and keep your money & sanity.
