Can I wear my contacts while swimming?

I’m going to Hawaii next week, and I wanna make sure I can wear my contacts to the beach. Are my contacts going to come out of my eyes, or get lost behind my eyes or irritate them in any way, if I go swimming??? Should I just make sure that I keep my head above the water?

i wear contacts and any time i have gone swimming i would wear goggles. otherwise they will probably sting from the salt water or slip out.

Unless you wear swim goggles be prepared to lose a lense or get irritated red eyes. People will tell you it is ok to wear them but you will want to bring along a pair of glasses. Have fun.

I wear mine, but I keep my eyes closed tightly. Get some goggles so you can really enjoy your vacation. Have fun…

You should not wear contacts while swimming as it will spoil the contacts and will hurt your eyes as just any kind of water going into your eyes while you have contacts on is not good for the eyes or the contacts. You can wear water goggles if the lenses are so important to be kept on. Have a good trip.

I have been wearing soft contacts for many years, and have been swimming with them many times. I have even been water skiing with them on, with some success, except for nasty falls.
The important thing is to keep your eyes tightly closed when under and make sure they are hand wiped (with semi-wet hand ok) , to not allow to much “foreign” water in.

I also always was wearing contacts, but I had trubles couple times – I just lost them.
I did **** glasses and contacts, thus I went for LASIK surgery – about 7 years ago – and I never ever regret it!
Check the local clinic.

I’ve had contacts for 12 years and I always wear them swimming. Just be sure to keep your eyes closed very tight.
