Any suggestions for a house rental on Kauia?
sara c asked:
Plan on going September 2007 w/ husband and 2 year old daughter. Never been to Hawaii. Torn between staying in the mountains or right on the beach. Would like something very private. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Aloha!
I live on Kauai and there are lots of great places here, but if I were on vacation I’d probably want to stay at Poipu Beach. Check out. They list condos and homes for rent all over the island. You might be able to get some ideas from our newspaper too. The website is.
Have a great trip!

Taraloha is right. is a good place to look. I also like (vacation rentals by owner). More important than whether to stay in the mountains or beach is how hot do you want it. Kauai can get pretty hot in Sept. Up the hills a bit more is always cooler. Hanalei is nice, cooler (wetter, but Sept is usually not too bad).
Keep in mind, Kauai is really quiet and rural compared to the other large islands. Oahu is nice, and more to do with a child. As long as you don’t stay in Honolulu, and Waikiki. Sunset beach and Turtle Bay are great areas, nice beaches and not so tourist. I live on Kauai and have a three year old and we sometimes have a hard time trying to find things to do. Poipu and Kapaa both have great keiki (kids) beaches. What ever you do, bring lots of bug spray. Mosquitoes can be really bad here.
