Why Are There So Many Godzilla Toys And Action Figures To Purchase?
Many science fiction and horror movies and comic books create toys relevant to those titles. An exceedingly popular film character turned toy figure is Godzilla. Initially presented in Japan in the 1950s, Godzilla has attained a worldwide cult following. Thousands of toy characters in Godzilla’s likeness have been sold. If you like this fire-breathing ancient monster, odds are you would like to collect the many Godzilla action figures available.
Whether you call him Godzilla or Gojira, there’s no debate that the colossal green lizard is possibly Japan’s most popular import, at least beside Hello Kitty and that Asahi beer. Initially a menacing monster and metaphor for the nuclear bombardment, Godzilla changed over the years since he first appeared in 1954, as director Eji Tsuburaya discovered that his largest group of followers were children, with all of their lovely licensing dollars.
Kaiju collecting can rapidly turn into a very costly as well as addicting fad. Since the 1960s the kaiju collector has had an escalating number of collectibles to splurge their hard earned cash on, and for most fans, the best element of taking pleasure in a collection is to search for that hard to find poster, lobby, card, tin toy, etc. Bizarrely enough, the earliest collectible Godzilla toy was not even developed in Japan, but was the America model set made by Aurora. For most fans though, the most admired sought after collectible is not that hard to find poster, CD or model kit. For many a fan, the most admired and extensively collected Godzilla collectibles are the vinyl Godzilla toys which have continued to be popular for over 30 years.
